Mews Development - High Street North, East Ham E12

What started off as a site meeting to discuss a loft conversion to our client’s apartment, soon became something quite different when we spotted the potential of a derelict storage shed at the bottom of the garden, which faced onto a commercial mews access road. None of the other mews sheds on the terrace had been converted to residential, so it was very much a speculative proposal, but after a lot of hard work and some creative design we were able to re-develop the storage building into a fantastic new house. This yielded huge sums to the client from what was previously a worthless storage lock-up, and he was incredibly happy, to say the least. This project is a great example of how having a keen eye for potential, good knowledge of the planning system, and putting in the hard work, can achieve tremendous results from unexpected sources. Humphreys and Sons dealt with the entire project from start to finish, from initial concept designs right through to planning permission, building regulations, NHBC warranty, new utilities and drainage connections, public sewer build over permissions, party wall agreements, builder contracts, and we supervised the building works on site.
